Why Give to Alfred University?
Your gift can make a difference to students, today and tomorrow and for years in the future. That's the bottom line.
There are other reasons to give, of course. It will make you feel good to help a worthy cause; you can repay the generosity of donors whose gifts made it possible for you to attend Alfred University, and your gift is tax deductible.
There are many ways to make a gift:
The Baccalaureate Scholarship Program: Financial aid for students who could not otherwise afford to attend is one of Alfred University's biggest needs. For decades, donors just like you have made it possible for thousands of students -- maybe even you! -- to benefit from the Alfred Experience.
Endowed Scholarships/Funds
At Alfred, it is possible to create a permanent endowed scholarship with a gift of $25,000 or more. Without endowments, there would be few, if any, viable private institutions of higher education. The endowment provides income in perpetuity for a specific use. Endowments create living legacies that extend donors' influence on the University and the lives of untold students for generations.
An endowment is established when a donor's gift is received and its use, in support of a University program or scholarship fund, is established in perpetuity. The money is invested in the University's pooled endowment; spendable income realized from the performance of the pooled endowment funds is allocated to a separate account, to be used in accordance with your wishes at the time you make the gift. We agree on terms and include them in a Memorandum of Understanding that will guide the use of the funds into the future.
If you decide to endow a scholarship or a program, you may make payments on the gift for up to three years.
